i'm thinking i'd prefer not to be rescued

First week of class: done. This semester is gonna be a busy one; probably one of my hardest and most time-consuming. All my classes seem pretty cool, just some seem like they will be really hard. I am taking 18 credit hours... which is plenty, I think. I hope I can keep up. Here’s a brief synopsis of my schedule and how I think things will go:
MKT 300 - Survey of Marketing
Seems pretty easy… involves lots of group work. But I have a few friends in my group/class so it should work out well.

MUS 205 - Music, Instruments, & Technology
So far it has been interesting, the stuff he talks about I’m already lost… in octaves and crazy stuff like that. But the little quizzes on what we listen to, I can pick up really easily. Should be a good class.

CMM 111 - Informative Public Speaking
For those who know how much I like this class… well let’s just say I royally suck talking in front of people. I’d rather take a hard as hell math class than take this 1 credit hour ‘blow off’ course.

VAD 312 - Visual Form
Seems like a pretty cool class. The professor is out of this world, but seems to know a lot about graphics design. I can see the projects taking a lot of time. From what I heard it’s not that great of a course, but I will try to think positively. The class itself is not bad; plus, all the familiar faces make it more enjoyable.

VAD 218 - Computer Illustration
We are learning how to use Adobe Illustrator. Should be a pretty awesome class because I love learning new programs. The professor knows what he is doing and is very good.

VAH 383 - History of Visual Communication Design
Your typical art history class with a twist of modernism… should be the best kind of art history class. But I still tend to fall asleep very easily. I have decided not to buy the book… I hope it works out. Especially, because I don’t like taking notes in this sort of class.

MIS 494 - Advanced Web Development
Oh my goodness… lets just say I might go nuts taking this class. I am one of two undergraduate students in this course. The rest are grad students. The course seems very very hard. We need to know many programming languages, and I don’t know ¾ of the ones we need to know. If I stick to it (which I plan) I hope I can pull through with all the other stuff I have to do.
There it is… my schedule for the semester. I hope I can hold on. I don’t know about getting up for 9 o’clock classes every morning either. Today I almost didn’t get out of bed. =/

For all those wondering about the progress of the beer pong table… it’s been idle in our family room for a lil bit. The painting is pretty much done, just needs a few touch ups… but we still need to sand the corners round, and make it nice and glossy smooth. It will for sure be done for Andrew’s 21st next weekend.

Whoa, this was kind of a long post… the title is from the song Jack’s Mannequin – Rescued… it is about ending a bad relationship, but in my case… I am relating that line to how hard my schedule might be this semester and how I really don’t want to drop a course to make it easier. I love the song though… along with the rest of the album.

shelter me oh genius words, just give me strength to pen these things

today is the last official day of summer for me. classes start back up tomorrow... 9 am every morning... and i have class on fridays this semester =/. i lucked out the last couple semesters. I’m excited though… lots of awesome classes, great people, and crazy parties. This weekend was pretty awesome; we’ve been busy playing a lot of corn hole, building our crazy beer pong table (which we are painting today), and relaxing before the stress of classes begin. The table what we are making is gonna stay at tom’s place… and was his idea… But we are building/painting it at my place. What the table is going to be is the logo for the strip joint from the sopranos, “Bada Bing!” Haha, one of Tom’s classy ideas. Friday we bought the board and sketched the logo on, yesterday we bought the paint and paintbrushes and such, and today we paint. It should turn out pretty sweet.

Lately I’ve been listening to the new cartel a lot, and that’s where I get my title… from “The Minstrel's Prayer,” probably my favorite song on the album.

If you're not getting answers, Ask better questions

Well, cartel finally leaked; It’s heaven to my ears… except right now I think I have an ear infection. It is really annoying. I think it’s from all the swimming in Tennessee… I guess it could be swimmers ear; makes sense. I will go make a visit to the health center tomorrow before work, see if they have anything to say about it.

Today I went to that KU manager training. I got there an hour early… the email said 8 in the morning, so that’s what I did… but it started at 9. Waiting up all night for the new cartel was still worth the 4 hours of sleep. The training itself was aright. I felt really out of place, everyone else there has people working under them… and there is me, the one working by myself in a closet. All the “team-work” activities are fun and all but I don’t think they apply to my position at all. Oh well I got paid to do it, plus free KU catering breakfast and lunch.

After work I cleaned some more… I’m making this place look good. I picked up groceries and more cleaning supplies with cheet today. We bleached out the fridge… looks good now. Only gotta mop up the floors… and this place can actually be in a DTM-approved living condition.

Today as I was listening to the new cartel (all day), it got me thinking about the music I listen to and how much I love it… and how much music I have downloaded for free without giving the music artist anything. I know I buy a lot of t-shirts and go to plenty of shows. But there are so many artists that I don’t give anything to but still love them. I felt like I needed to contribute more today; I bought about 100 dollars worth of band t-shirts today. For how much I like buying the actual album… I hate how I have nowhere to put it. The last album I bought was copland – motion… and it is sitting at home on a shelf and has never made it to a cd player, because it already had it downloaded to my computer and ipod. The album art is cool and all but… when you have SO many albums, it honestly is just “clutter” to me. I guess I am one living in the 21st generation… listening to music through my seven 6.1 surround sound computer speakers, and carrying 40 gigs of music everywhere I go with my ipod. Well today, 7 artist I have never seen live or bought anything of their stuff… just got some of my money. (Plus I think the band makes more from a t-shirt than from the cd; cheaper to make? i think.)

Today was a pretty good day otherwise… I hope this ear thing will go away. Well I will see what the doc has to say tomorrow.

The greatest escapist the world has ever known

I haven’t posted in awhile. Well the weekend I went to Chicago… it turned out awesome; it's just that simple. A couple of days ago I bought a bike for school… just a lil bmx. I thought I should get something because I am about 1-2 miles from campus now. =/ so I got a small bike, something easy for transportation. Today is my last day of work, and this weekend I really need to get my stuff together for school. I leave on Sunday. Can you believe it? I can’t.

Umm this week has been really crazy too. I am trying to do as much as I can with my friends and getting ready for school. I went to see the new willy wonka with nick and ryan… don’t see it, its bad. We all didn’t like it. well, we were going to see wedding crashers (which I heard was awesome) but we were running late so we saw willy wonka. I like the original much better. On Tuesday I went to a hardcore show with ryan Maxwell… it was kinda crazy but pretty good as well. I’m more of the mellow kinda person, but this was pretty sweet. Between the Buried and Me has some really badass guitarists. Carl was over the other night… we had a classic lan of halo; Good times with the greaser. Oh and I had lunch/dinner yesterday with an old friend from high school... John Fauser, my good old kicking buddy. it was good to see him, he's a good guy.

So much to do and so little time. I will be busy tonight and tomorrow getting my stuff ready for school and Tennessee. Should turn out to be a good time. Until then I hope to hang out with my friends from home as much as I can.

The title for today comes from the song escapist from brandston’s newest. I love that album. This song really reflects me I think… I tend to be the greatest escapist.
